The match saw India surge ahead early on with Annu (11′), Ropni Kumari (14′), and Mumtaz Khan (24′) registering goals. However, Germany swiftly countered through Sophia Schwabe (17′), Laura Pluth (21′, 36′), and Carolin Seidel (38′), staging a remarkable comeback to secure the win.
India displayed dominance in the opening quarter. But Germany, resilient and determined, capitalized on opportunities in the subsequent quarters, neutralizing India’s lead with swift strikes from Sophia and Laura.
Despite Mumtaz’s goal reinstating India’s advantage, Germany’s relentless efforts turned the tide, culminating in a slender lead by the end of the third quarter.
The final quarter witnessed an intense battle, with both teams seeking opportunities to score. India’s goalkeeper, Madhuri Kindo, showcased exceptional skills, denying Germany from extending their lead. India fought valiantly in the dying moments but couldn’t find the equalizer despite earning consecutive penalty corners.
India now prepares to face Belgium in their third tournament match, aiming to bounce back after a fiercely contested encounter against Germany.
