The highly anticipated Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football is set to commence, promising a thrilling start with four opening-round matches across the nation.
This prestigious football event, featuring ten teams, begins on Friday, marking a celebration of the sport’s passion and competition.
Defending champions, Bashundhara Kings, initiate their title defense against Brothers Union Club in an exciting clash scheduled for 4:30 pm at their home ground, the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
Simultaneously, former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited face Rahmatganj MFS at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj. Additionally, Mohammedan SC squares off against Fortis SC at the Muktijoddha Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi, while Bangladesh Police meets Chittagong Abahani at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh – all matches kicking off at 2:30 pm on the opening day.
The excitement extends into Saturday with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club playing against Sheikh Russel KC at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
The tournament’s second round of matches is scheduled for December 29 and 30, setting the stage for gripping football encounters ahead.
Meanwhile, the ceremonial draw for the Federation Cup Football Tournament witnessed the grouping of arch-rivals Dhaka Mohammedan SC and Dhaka Abahani Ltd in the same group. The tournament will witness all ten Premier League teams divided into three groups competing on a league basis from December 26.
Matches are scheduled to be held at the Basundhara Kings Arena, Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj, and Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj. The first day of the Federation Cup will feature Bangladesh Police against Rahmatganj MFS and Bashundhara Kings against Fortis FC.
