Taskin Ahmed, a Bangladeshi right-arm pacer, has got his place in Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup despite his injury.
Taksin suffered a side strain injury during the recent series against Zimbabwe so he was uncertain about the T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and West Indies.
But all uncertainty has gone. Taskin has been named among the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. he will also lead the team as a Vice Captain alongside Najmul Hossain Shanto. BCB’s Medical team is confident of Taskin’s recovery before the start of the tournament.
An experienced batter, Mahmudullah Riyad is also named for the T20 World Cup. He missed the 2022 T20 World Cup for poor strike rate in the shorter format. But now he is back in his form and making sure of his existence in the World Cup this year. Litton Das has been picked for the squad despite his poor performance against Zimbabwe.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the team which also includes another experienced All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has played every T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2007.
Bangladesh have also picked Jaker Ali for his excellent performance in the shorter format. He was solid with the bat against the Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe series. Young Pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has also been picked over Mohammad Saifuddin by assessing the duo’s performance in the T20 Series.
