Shyers Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 Wickets and lifted the IPL trophy for the third time.

KKR played four IPL finals and won three of them. They lifted the trophy in 2012, 2014 and after ten years they won it again.

As expected it was not the so-called IPL final. No one can even imagine such a low-scoring final, while most of the matches of IPL have ended in huge total. SRH won the toss and opted to bat first but collapsed during the powerplay, losing three wickets early for Mitchell Starc’s attacking bowling. The team was able to set a target of just 114 runs, the lowest total in IPL final history.

In the replay, KKR comfortably reached the target in just 10.3 overs, securing the victory with eight wickets in hand. Venkatesh Iyer scored four fours and three sixes to remain not out at 52 off 26 deliveries, whereas Gurbaz chipped in with a valuable knock of 39 off 32 balls.

The SRH innings never grew up, as Harshit Rana got the key wicket of Heinrich Klassen in the second half of the innings and the rest of the wickets fell after one another. SRH Captain Cummins was the highest run scorer for the team, scoring 24 before he was sent back by Andre Russell. Cummins also took the most important wickets in the powerplay, he stopped mighty Sunil Narine but that was not enough.
