The situation in the South American World Cup qualifiers has been equally tough for Brazil. After 12 matches, they are in 5th place with 5 wins, 4 losses, and 3 draws. The current champions, Argentina, are leading the standings, with 8 wins and 3 losses in 12 matches. To secure a place in the 2026 World Cup, Brazil needs to be in the top six out of 10 teams. While it might seem feasible on paper, it is a tough challenge for Brazil. They have failed to secure victories in their last two World Cup qualifying matches, and the upcoming matches will give further tests.
In 2024, Brazil played a total of 14 matches, including the Copa América, friendly matches, and World Cup qualifiers. Of these, they won 6, drew 7, and lost 1.
