West Indies make a great start in the first Test at home. They declared their innings after collecting 450 runs against Bangladesh. Even if two batters return to the Nervous nineties Justin Greaves scores a century. Bangladesh lost 2 wickets for 40 runs in the afternoon of the second day. Bangladesh 410 behind with eight wickets in hand.
The first day’s play ended at 250 for 5 Windies after lose the toss and elect to bat. Another 200 runs were added on the second day. With one wicket still in hand, captain Brathwaite called in Graves and Joseph. Then, the two Bangladesh openers, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan, came to the crease.
The opening pair ended with 20 runs when Zakir was dismissed. Later, Joy also returned with 1 run added. Two openers in the dressing room as soon as 21 runs were on the scoreboard. Justin Greaves scored 115 runs in the Windies innings. Mikyle Louis scored 97 and Alick Athanaze scored 90 to take the team ahead by a big score. Kemar Roach played an effective role in the end with 47 runs. He put on a 160-run partnership with Graves.
Bangladesh could not create much advantage with the ball. Hasan Mahmud is now the highest wicket-taker among Bangladeshi pacers in a calendar year. He took three wickets in this innings. Taskin and Miraj took two wickets each and Taijul Islam took one wicket.
