The Ballon d’Or is the most prestigious individual award in the football world. UEFA announced the Ballon d’Or dates and venue, which will be held on October 28 in Paris.
Monthly magazine France Football first invented the Ballon d’Or for men in 1956 and the women’s prize in 2018. UEFA is now the magazine’s partner to help market the event and organize the ceremony in a theatre in central Paris.
Ballon d’Or nominations will be announced on September 4, letting the voters factor in the European Championship and Copa America in men’s football and the Paris Olympics tournament in the women’s game. The player who performed well throughout the season with the club and tournament with the national team will be nominated as the Ballon d’Or winner. Voters are expected to consider players’ individual performance, then their team’s performance and also fair play.
