Bangladesh expects Taskin’s return against Sri Lanka

Taskin Ahmed
Taskin Ahmed. Photo- collected Bangladesh is expecting pacer Taskin Ahmed to return for the T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka on June 8. The right-arm pacer suffered from a side strain injury during the series against Zimbabwe but was eventually included in Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

Taskin Ahmed does not feature in Bangladesh’s recent three-match T20 series against the USA due to injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) medical team is confident of his availability before the opening match against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s(BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury reported on Taskin’s recovery following an MRI scan on May 23. “Taskin’s improvement is very good and satisfying. He is going through a rehabilitation process and undergoing gym training. He is doing running sessions and we will introduce bowling later,” said Debashish.

“Taskin had another MRI and he is recovering faster than expected on May 30 or 31 he will be assessed another time and from June 1 he will start his bowling and we are expecting him to bowl with full pace from June 5,” he added.

Paceman Hasan Mahmud was included in the Bangladesh T20 squad as a travelling reserve in case Taskin was unable to recover. Hasan Mahmud was also included in the ongoing three-match T20 series against the USA, but he is yet to play.
