Pakistani superstar Shahid Afridi has been attached with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) since its inception. This season he has come in a new form. The former Pakistani all-rounder is the brand ambassador for Chittagong Kings in the ongoing BPL. He was also present on the field in the first match of Chittagong today (Tuesday). There, he said that Bangladesh is his second home.
In Mirpur a Afridi said to a broadcast channel, ‘I always say – Bangladesh is my second home. Because I have played a lot of cricket here. The people here are passionate about cricket. I have also received a lot of respect from Bangladesh.’
He also said, ‘I have great memories of playing for Pakistan and in a few seasons in the BPL with different franchises. Overall, the experience was very good. I am still enjoying it.’

Afridi also explained his responsibility for Chittagong. The former Pakistan star also explained the reason for their defeat, “Very simple. Just supporting and motivating the boys. It’s a very simple job. The tournament has just started. We made some big mistakes in bowling. Very experienced bowling attack. But we couldn’t bowl in the right places. We couldn’t read the pitch. If we can understand the pitch and bowl, I think our team is very balanced.”
Batting first against Chittagong Kings, Khulna Tigers scored a big total of 203 runs, supported by William Basisto’s 75 and Mahidul Islam Ankan’s 59. In reply, Shamim Patwary and no one else from Chittagong could play an innings worth mentioning. As a result, despite Shamim’s 78 runs, the team of port city was all out for 166 runs. Khulna won its first win of the season by 37 runs.
