Barcelona stars Yamal-Fermin named in Spain Euro Squad

Barcelona’s youngsters Lamin Yamal and Fermin Lopez have been named in Spain’s Euro squad as new Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente announced its 29-member provisional squad for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany on June 15.

Lamin is the youngest player in Spanish football history, aged 16 years and 50 days. He found his debut match against Georgia last September. The 16-year-old is having a good season with Barcelona, scoring 5 goals and 5 assists this season so far.

Lamin Yamal was also a standout performer in the last two games for Spain against Brazil and Colombia, while Spain secured a level against Brazil by 3-3 but lost to Colombia by 1-0.

Fermin Lopez grabs attention for his excellent playing style with Barcelona, the young Midfielder scored 5 goals this season. Apart from Fermin and Yamal, their teammates Pau Cubarsi, Pedri and Ferran Torres were included in the squad, but Gavi missed out with an injury.

“Fermín is at a very high level, but we have to be cautious. With the National team, many players give another plus and we are sure that he will show us what a great player he is,” Spanish Boss De la Fuente on Fermin Lopez.

David Raya, Alex Grimaldo and Marc Cucurella are among several players who found their names in the squad. Experienced campaigners Dani Carvajal, Nacho, Rodri and Jesus Navas strengthen Spain’s squad.

Defenders: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Jesus Navas (Sevilla), Aymeric Laporte (Al-Nassr), Nacho Fernandez (Real Madrid), Robin Le Normand (Real Sociedad), Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona), Dani Vivian (Athletic Bilbao), Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea).

Midfielders: Rodrigo (Manchester City), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Fabian Ruiz (Paris St-Germain), Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Pedri (Barcelona), Marcos Llorente (Atletico Madrid), Aleix Garcia (Girona), Alex Baena (Villarreal), Fermin Lopez (Barcelona).

Forwards: Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid), Joselu (Real Madrid), Dani Olmo (Leipzig), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Ayoze Perez (Real Betis), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona).
