An era is going to end. The man who has given his everything for the prestigious format of Cricket- Test Cricket, has announced his retirement from Test Cricket after the Lord’s Test against West Indies, which will be held from July 10.

Lord’s Test will be his final Test appearance after 21 years of continuing service from his side. The Lord’s was his debut Test venue as well, which was against Zimbabwe in 2003.

James Anderson is now the highest wicket-taker pacer in the history of Test Cricket. He took 700 wickets in just 187 Test matches at an average of 26.53. He picked up 32 five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket hauls, with the best of 7 for 42 against West Indies.

“It’s been an incredible 20 years representing my country, playing the game I’ve loved since I was a kid. I’m going to miss walking out for England so much. But I know the time is right to step aside and let others realise their dreams just like I got to because there is no greater feeling.” James Anderson on his Instagram post.

Jimmy thanked his parents and wife for supporting him all the time on and off the field. “I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of Daniella, Lola, Ruby and my parents. A huge thank you to them. Also, thank you to the players and coaches who have made this the best job in the world.”
