The Golden Bou award is given by Italian sports media outlet ‘Tattosport’. Representatives from Europe’s leading media outlets vote in the election. The media outlets include Germany’s Bild, Spain’s Marca and Mundo Deportivo, England’s The Times, France’s L’Equipe, Portugal’s A Bola, and Switzerland’s Blick. Each pair votes for five players in the winning election.

The player who receives the first vote gets 10 points, the player who receives the second vote gets 7 points, the third gets 5 points, the fourth gets 3 points and the fifth gets 1 point.
