James Maddison and Curtis Jones have been cut from England’s Euro squad. They become the first players to be cut out of the Squad ahead of Euro 2024, scheduled for 15 June in Germany.
Maddison and Jones were both named in Gareth Southgate’s 33-men preliminary squad for Euro, but neither started Monday’s 3-0 friendly match win over Bosnia and Herzegovina despite the Three Lions playing with an experimental team.
Apart from Madison and Jones, Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, Man Utd defender Harry Maguire and three players will be cut from Southgate’s squad. England boss Gareth Southgate must trim his Euro Squad from 33 to 26 players this week as the UEFA confirmed the deadline on June 7.

Maddison made a flying start to the season with Tottenham, led all players in the Premier League for chances created (31), was joint-top for assists (five) and ranked third in the competition for expected assists (3.2 xA) after 11 games. but later saw his form reduced after he suffered an ankle injury in November, which ruled him out for three months.
Curtis Jones made 23 Premier League appearances for Liverpool in 2023-24, scoring only one goal and one assist in those matches.
