Maruf braked the Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which contempt or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his dismissal during Match. As a result, one demerit point has been added to Maruf’s disciplinary record, which was his first offence in a 24-month period.
At the 44th over of the match this incident occurred. When Maruf gave Avanish a send-off by pointing aggressively to the pavilion twice, after dismissing him. The act is clearly against the ICC’s Playing Conditions Policy.
The ICC confirmed through a post on their official Facebook page. But there was no need for a formal hearing as Maruf admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee, on-field umpires third umpire and fourth umpire.
Bangladesh lost even after Maruf took 5 wickets in that match. India emerged victors by 84-run margin. India scored 250 runs by batting first. Bangladesh were bowled out for 167 runs.
