Lionel Messi’s current team Inter Miami is going to debut in the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time. Even though 20 seasons of the tournament have passed before, this American club has never played in this global tournament.
Since the tournament will be held in the United States this time, Inter Miami qualified easily as a host club. Miami secured their ticket to the tournament after recently winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield. And they will play in the opening match of the Club World Cup, which will be held on June 14.
Many thing has changed in this global tournament. Previously, the Club World Cup was held every year, but from now on, it will be held every 4 years. Where maximum 32 teams will participate in the competition instead of 7 teams. Where four teams will face each other in eight different groups.
Messi’s team Inter Miami is in the ‘A’ group of the tournament. Where their opponents are Brazilian club SE Palmeiras, Portuguese club FC Porto and Egyptian club Al Ahly FC.

Inter Miami will play against Al-Ahly FC on June 14 in the opening match of the Club World Cup. Messi’s team will then face FC Porto on June 19. Miami will take on SE Palmeiras on June 23 in their last match of the group stage.
At the end of the group stage, the top two teams from each group will have the opportunity to play in the last sixteen knockout round. Then the quarter finals and then the semi finals were held with the winning teams. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will end with the final match on July 13.
