Most runs in T20 World Cup: Virat-Rohit leads the chart

The Indians dominate in the T20 World Cup as their big names Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma lead the most runs chart in the T20 World Cup history.

Virat Kohli 

Virat Kohli currently holds the record for the highest run-getter in the T20 World Cup. Virat has scored 1146* runs at an average of 71.62 in his 27 innings. The Indian batter featured in six T20 World Cups and scored 14 fifties, striking over 130. The highest score he got against West Indies in the 2016 edition while he was not out at 89* runs.

Rohit Sharma 

Rohit Sharma, the Hitman has recently been promoted to the second-highest run-scorer after surpassing Sri Lankan Former Mahela Jayawardene. Rohit featured in all T20 World Cups from its inaugural edition in 2007 to the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. He scored 1028* runs at an average of over 35 in his 38 innings. The batter also scored 10 fifties so far, striking at over 128.

Mahela Jayawardene

The third of the list goes to Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene. Having featured in five T20 World Cups, Jayawardene amassed 1016 runs in 31 innings at an average of 39.07.

The former Sri Lankan Captain also scored 6 fifties and one century, striking over 134. He was the highest run-scorer in the 2010 T20 World Cup hosted by West Indies, he scored 302 runs in six matches and maintained over 159 strike rate.

Chris Gayle

The list might be incomplete without the name of Chris Gayle. The Universe boss is also on the list of highest-getters in the T20 World Cup. He scored 965 runs at an average of 34.46 in his 31 appearances in the T20 World Cup.

Gayle also holds the record for most sixes in the T20 World Cup. He also scored 7 fifties and 2 centuries, striking at over 142.

David Warner 

The only Aussie who has included his name in the list is David Warner. He amassed 901* runs at an average of 26.50 in 36 innings.

The Australian batter also holds the record of the highest run-getter in T20 for Australia. He has recently surpassed former Australian T20 Captain Aron Finch. The batter 7 fifties, striking over 134.
