Bangladeshi All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan holds the record for taking the most wickets in the T20 World Cup history. Shakib featured in the tournament from its inaugural edition in 2007 and picked up the most wickets in the history of the Men’s T20 World Cup.
Apart from Shakib, Sri Lankan pace sensation Lasith Malinga and Shahid Afridi have been named in the list for taking the most number of wickets in the T20 World Cup.
Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan, a Bangladeshi Legendary All-rounder, leads the chart for taking the most wickets in the T20 World Cup. Having featured in the nine editions, The left-arm spinner has picked up 47* wickets in 37* innings at an average of 19.40. He has also maintained an excellent economy rate of 6.84.
The most experienced campaigner can control the opponent’s run flow with his bowling variations.
Shahid Afridi
Shahid Afridi, a Pakistani unorthodox leg-spinner, holds the record of the second-highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup.
Afridi picked up 39 Wickets in his 34 T20 World Cup matches. He could have taken the opponent’s crucial wickets that changed the momentum of the match.

Lasith Malinga The Sri Lankan lethal pacer Lastith Malinga bagged the record for taking the most number of wickets in the T20 World Cup history.
The Lankan great has taken 38 Wickets in 31 matches. He was known for his fiery yorker, deceptive slower, lethal bounce and intelligence in death overs that helped Sri Lanka win the 2014 T20 World Cup Title. He could also have played in the 2016 T20 World but injury ruled him out of the tournament.
Saeed Ajmal
Ajmal was known for lethal doosra deliveries and excellent power of controlling the game. The Pakistani Spinner picked up 36 wickets in 23 T20 World Cup matches before his retirement in 2014.
His speciality was in deceptive the batters with excellent variations.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Hasaranga is a complete package of leg-spinners which includes doosra, Top spin, googly or everything that is needed for a complete bowler.
He has great potential to be the most Wicket taker in T20 World Cup history as he has already picked up 35 wickets in just 18 matches. He was also named the highest wicket-taker in the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup.
