Bangladesh’s left-arm spinner, Nahida Akter, created history by becoming the first Bangladeshi women’s cricketer to win the prestigious ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for her outstanding performance in November.

Outshining her competitors Fargana Hoque and Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, Nahida’s exceptional contributions in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan at home propelled her to this remarkable achievement. Her crucial seven-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s significant 2-1 series victory.

Expressing her joy and gratitude, Nahida Akter stated, “This recognition from a distinguished panel of cricket experts means a lot to me. Winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award serves as a huge inspiration and motivates me greatly.”

Acknowledging her teammates’ support and the trust placed in her by the captain and coaches, Nahida credited her success to their unwavering belief. Her impactful performances, notably in the series-deciding match, highlight her prowess as a crucial asset for Bangladesh’s cricketing success.

At just 23 years old, Nahida has already established herself as Bangladesh’s top wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is and holds the third-highest tally in ODIs, cementing her reputation as a key figure in the team’s journey.
