Real Madrid secured its record 15th UEFA Champions League title after trashing Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final at iconic Wembley Stadium.

The Champions League is second nature to Real Madrid. They have an impressive record in the UEFA Champions League as the club played the 19th final while they lost only three finals, their last defeat coming back in 1981 when Los Blancos lost against Liverpool by 1-0.

The first half produced so many thrilling moments, with Dortmund aggressively attacking the Madrid box. Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, was the standout performer, making crucial saves against Dortmund players Niclas Füllkrug, Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt, keeping the score level in the first half.

The second half went to Real Madrid as the Club saw their two goals, breaking the Yellow wall. In the 73rd minute, Dani Carvajal headed in a cross from Toni Kroos, as the ball found the net.

Dortmund’s goalkeeper, Gregor Kobel was a solid man throughout the match but he failed to stop again. Vinicius Junior then doubled the lead in the 83rd minute, finishing off a pass from Jude Bellingham from inside the box.

Borussia Dortmund played four finals in their entire history. They won it once. Their last two defeats came back in 1997 when they  played against arch-rivals Bayern Munich at Wembley in 2013 and the second is tonight against Real Madrid. Mats Hummels and Marco Rues both played an entire 90 minutes in those matches.

The match was special for both Toni Kroos and Marco Rues as the two Germans played their last match for their Clubs.
