In a big soccer game, Cristiano Ronaldo did something unusual that changed the match. His team, Al-Nassr, was playing against Persepolis in the Asian Champions League. At the start, the referee thought Ronaldo was fouled in the box, so he gave a penalty to Ronaldo’s team.
But Ronaldo, and other players from Persepolis, said it wasn’t a penalty. He convinced the referee to check the video, and after watching it again, the the referee changed his mind. He cancelled the penalty because he saw Ronaldo wasn’t fauled.
During the match, things got a bit tough for Al-Nassr. One of their players got a red card for a dangerous move. And Ronaldo himself had an injury and he had to leave the game due to a neck problem.
Even though the match ended in a 0-0 draw, Al-Nassr had already made it to the next round of the tournament as the top team in their group. They hadn’t lost any games before this one, winning most of them.
In another game, Al-Duhail from Qatar won their first match by beating Istiklol 2-0. A player from Kenya, Michael Olunga, scored both goals for them.
In a different group, Al-Ittihad, led by coach Marcelo Gallardo, won against AGMK. Gallardo was happy with his team’s performance, especially with two goals scored by Abderrazak Hamdallah.
These games decide which teams move forward in the tournament. The top team from each group goes to the next round, along with six other good teams from all the groups.
