Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh Captain, wants support from experienced Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad in difficult times at the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to start in the USA and West Indies from June 1.
Shanto, who had experience leading the national team in the ICC event. He led the Bangladesh team against India and Sri Lanka in the absence of Captain Shakib Al Hasan in the World Cup 2023.
“There’s a lot to learn from them. They also have leadership experience, and they will help me during difficult times. Whenever I need something, they come forward. Hopefully, the World Cup will not be an exception,” Shanto said of Shakib and Mahmudullah.

Shanto will lead the Bangladesh team in the upcoming T20 World Cup, this will be his second time leading the team in an ICC event. “I think every cricketer dreams of representing their country. Having the opportunity to play on a stage like the World Cup is a proud and thrilling moment for any cricketer. I want to enjoy this time and fulfil my responsibilities to the team. That’s the goal. I don’t want to think that being captain has increased my responsibilities too much. I want to enjoy every day,” he added.
Najmul Hossain Shanto also wants support from fans when the team faces difficult times. “The way supporters follow and stand by cricket keeps the team ahead. Even in difficult times, I hope they continue to support the team,” Shanto added.
Bangladesh will compete from Group D, where they will face Sri Lanka, South Africa, Netherlands and Nepal.
