The West Indies claimed a thrilling series win against England in a rain-interrupted third one-day international in Barbados.
Debutant Matthew Forde made an exceptional impact, taking three key wickets early in England’s innings, leaving them struggling at 49-5.
Despite the setback, Ben Duckett’s resilient 71 guided England to a competitive total of 206-9 in 40 overs, following delays due to weather conditions. The West Indies were then handed a revised target of 188 runs in 34 overs, setting the stage for a tense chase.
Keacy Carty’s composed half-century initially put the West Indies in control. However, England’s spinners, led by Will Jacks’ 3-22, triggered a late fightback, creating a nail-biting finish.
In a crucial moment, a costly over from Gus Atkinson shifted momentum decisively in favor of the West Indies. Romario Shepherd’s unbeaten 41 off 28 balls steered the hosts to victory, securing a series win with 14 balls to spare.
This victory marks the West Indies’ first home series win against England in ODIs since 1998. The teams will now gear up for a five-match T20 series, commencing on Tuesday, still in Barbados.
