A few days ago, the women’s national cricket league, a longer version, was launched for the first time. In that vein, Bangladeshi girls are going to get another tournament. The women’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is going to be launched for the first time.
BCB President Faruk Ahmed had assured a few days ago about organizing this women’s franchise tournament. Finally, it is going to be fulfilled in reality. The women’s BPL will be held after the ongoing men’s BPL ends. BCB Director Nazmul Abedin Fahim said this.

Fahim faced the media after the match between Durbar Rajshahi and Sylhet Strikers at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday (January 17). At that time, the director said, “The board has been thinking for quite some time about how to take women’s cricket further. Keeping that in mind, our thinking was whether a BPL for women could be organized or not. Today, a decision has been taken to organize the women’s BPL.”

The women’s BPL will be organized with three teams. The tournament will be held in a double league format, with a total of seven matches. The tournament is likely to start 8-9 days after the boys’ BPL ends. Any three franchises from the seven franchises in the men’s BPL will play in the women’s BPL. However, the franchises and the schedule have not been decided yet.

Fahim said, “We have already spoken to some franchises. They have shown interest. We want to start like this and see what kind of impact this women’s competition has on the T20 format. We hope that through this tournament we can take women’s cricket to another level.”
Regarding the formation of the tournament team, he said that each franchise will be able to take 15 domestic cricketers in their squad. And since it is franchise cricket, there will be foreign players as well, but only one foreigner can be kept in the starting eleven.
